Grid considerations

As one of the chief limiting factors for an exporting electricity generator an economical grid connection solution is a key factor in the feasibility of a project. Grid connection cost is typically a product of distance between the generator and a suitable grid connection point.

Our approach

PEC aims to find the shortest connection in order to minimise cost. Other factors to consider in grid connection include the timing of works where overhead lines may require planning consent but underground cables although more costly are considered exempted development and can be installed in a fraction of the time. PEC works with a number of grid advisers with extensive experience in the NIE and ESB systems who can negotiate on connection timing and prices on behalf of the generator.
